Creole Barbecue Sauce Shopping List:
1 can (28 ounces) Italian plum tomatoes, drained
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup olive oil
2 garlic cloves, crushed in a garlic press
1/4 cup lime juice
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
Dash pepper
5 drops Tabasco
Creole Barbecue Sauce Preparation Instructions:
1. Chop tomatoes; put tomato and onion into a saucepan and cook uncovered over medium heat for 15 minutes.
2. Force tomato mixture through a fine sieve into another saucepan. Discard remaining solids.
3. Add remaining ingredients to saucepan. Stir until blended. Simmer uncovered about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
4. Brush sauce over meat for barbecuing.
