12 whole small onions, peeled
1 cup wine
1 cup water
¾ cup olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon marjoram
1 bay leaf
4 parsley sprigs, minced
Juice of 1 lemon
8 artichokes, cleaned and cut in quarters
1. Combine all ingredients in a deep saucepan. Simmer covered until artichokes are tender.
2. Serve either hot or cold.
