1 ounce dried mushrooms or ¼ pound fresh mushrooms
½ cup warm water
1 large onion, diced
2 ½ tablespoons butter or shortening
1 ½ pounds sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
1/3 cup water
2 tablespooons flour
Salt and pepper
1. Soak the dried mushrooms in ½ cup warm water 1 hour.
2. Saute mushrooms and onion in butter in a skillet 3 minutes.
3. Add sauerkraut to mushrooms; cook and stir 10 minutes.
4. Blend 1/3 cup water into flour. Mix with sauerkraut and simmer 15 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve with fish.
