Drop Yeast Doughnuts Shopping List:

2 packages active dry yeast
2 cups warm water (105°Fto 115° F)
3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt
Vegetable oil or olive oil or a combination of the two for deep frying
Honey and cinnamon

Drop Yeast Doughnuts Preparation Instructions:

1. Dissolve yeast in 1 cup warm water in a small bowl.
2. Add 1 ½ cups flour to yeast. Beat batter with a wooden spoon until smooth.
3. Cover with a towel and put into a warm place until bat­ter is double in bulk.
4. Pour into a larger bowl, add remaining water, salt, and flour to make a thick but runny batter.
5. Cover with a towel and put into a warm place until bat­ter is double in bulk and begins to bubble.
6. Half fill a deep fryer with oil. Heat just until smoking.
7. Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into oil; occasionally dip spoon in oil before dipping in batter. Cook until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon.
8. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve hot.
