Smothered Stuffed Chicken

1 chicken (about 3 pounds)
½ teaspoon salt
1/s teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons butter
1 ¼ cups dry bread cubes or pieces
¼ cup chopped on ion
½ teaspoon dill weed
¼ cup hot milk
1/3 cup butter, melted

1. Sprinkle inside of chicken with salt and pepper. Tuck wing tips underneath wings. Chop liver.
2. Saute liver in 2 tablespoons butter 2 minutes. Add bread cubes, onion, dill, and milk; mix.
3. Stuff chicken. Close and secure with poultry pins. Place in a ceramic or earthenware casserole.
4. Pour melted butter over chicken. Cover.
5. Bake at 350°F about 1 hour, or until chicken is tender.
6. If desired, remove cover. Baste. Increase temperature to 450°F. Bake 10 minutes to brown.
