Chili Pinwheels

Chili Pinwheels Shopping List:

1 can (about 15 ½ ounces) kidney beans
½ teaspoon chili powder ½ pound ground beef
¼ cup chopped onion ¼ cup chopped green pepper
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 dashes Tabasco
Salt and pepper
8 dinner crepes (see below)

Chili Pinwheels Preparing Instructions:

1. Drain and mash beans. Blend in chili powder. Set aside.
2. Saute beef with onion and green pepper. When onion and green pepper are tender, remove from heat and drain off any liquid. Stir ketchup, Tabasco, and bean mixture in­to drained meat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
3. For bite-size snacks or hors d’oeuvres, assemble by jelly­roll method.
4. Bake at 375 ° F 15 minutes. Cool 5 minutes and slice.

Chili Pinwheels Recipe: 8 ROLLS

Chili Turnovers: Follow recipe for Chili Pinwheels for fill­ing. Assemble by turnover method (below). Bake at 375° F 15 minutes; serve hot. These can be picked up and eaten like a sandwich.
Jelly-Roll Method: Spread crepe with filling according to recipe. Lift edge and fold under. Roll up firmly.
Turnover Method: Using a slotted spoon, place filling on one half of the crepe leaving a ¼- to ½-inch border. Moisten the back of a spoon with sauce from the filling. Run moistened spoon along rim of crepe. Fold crepe in half and press along rim to seal.
