Sofia’s Filled Loaf Shopping List:
1 unsliced loaf white bread
2 tablespoons melted butter
Crab Meat Stew:
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
1 ½ cups milk and crab meat liquid
Salt and Pepper
½ teaspoon parsley
12 ounces crab meat
6 tablespoons coarsely grated cheddar cheese
Sofia’s Filled Loaf Preparation Instructions:
1. Cut off the top part of the bread and remove most of the dough from the lower part. Brush the crust with melted butter inside and out.
2. Heat butter and flour for the stew for a few minutes over low heat. Add milk and crab meat liquid and bring mixture to a boil for a few minutes. Reduce to low heat.
3 . Season with salt, pepper, parsley and stir in the crab meat.
4. Fill the loaf with the stew and sprinkle the grated cheese on top . Bake in a 450°F oven for 8 to 10 minutes until it has turned light brown. Serve with a green salad and lemon wedges.
