Fried Cheese Roll Shopping List:
6 (1-ounce) wedges Gruyere cheese
6 dinner crepes (see below)
2 eggs, beaten
1/3 cup fine dry bread crumbs, seasoned or plain
Oil for frying heated to 375° F
Fried Cheese Roll Preparing Instructions:
1. Coarsely shred 1 wedge of cheese over 1 crepe to within 1 inch of crepe edges. Fold two opposite sides of crepe over 1 inch. Continue folding as directed in egg-roll method (below). Dip rolls into eggs. Coat thoroughly with bread crumbs.
2. Fry in 375 ° F oil until golden brown (about 5 minutes). Cool slightly. Cut into 1-inch pieces and serve.
Fried Cheese Roll Recipe: 6 CHEESE ROLLS
Egg-Roll Method: Place filling in a line down the center of the crepe, leaving enough space at either end of the filling to fold crepe up and over the filling. Lift edge and tuck around and under filling. Roll up firmly.
